“And the watchman said, Me thinketh the running of the foremost is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok. And the king said, He is a good man, and cometh with good tidings”. 2 Samuel 18:27 KJV
Listening to the audio bible on random playlist one early morning just as I woke up I was blown away by this scripture and what came of it. We pick up this story with King David sitting by the gates as he waited for news from the battle that his soldiers had gone for. This was the time when Absolomon the King’s son had declared himself King.
Joab had killed the young man even though David had spoken against it and the second runner carrying this news was Ahimaaz and for me this spoke volumes that a few scriptures before Joab had refused that he carry the news to King but Ahimaaz managed to outrun the first to runner.
The watchman said He runs like Ahimaaz the son of Zadok
King David said He is a good man and he has good news.
My question today when people see you worship leader what do they see and what will they say. The watchman saw the man and recognised Him but King David knew his character.
What does the world know about you
What does the church know about you.
I know at times people never have a good thing to say, but when you are a man of integrity people will know your work, people will know that this your hand even before they have seen it.Are you known for excellence or performance.
Do people know how wild your heart is or they know how founded on the rock you are
Are you known for a heart of worship or for a proud heart.
This is no condemnation but when men don’t have anything good to say about you the. They won’t have time to listen to you. Our lives as worship leaders should minister to men not just by what comes out of our mouths and hearts but by the way we carry ourselves for his kingdom.
May each of us be known for Heart of worship and may people know of our work just by looking at it but thus only comes through integrity as worship leaders. For the watchman and King David to know Ahimaaz it tells us a lot about the man. As worship leaders may our word be our bond and may our lives of service be lived with integrity.
